Dr. Luis Rankins-Ibarra, superintendent of the K-8 Escondido Union School District, 2023 Superintendent of the Year by the Association of California School Administrators Region 18, which encompasses San Diego and Imperial counties. Dr. Rankins-Ibarra has served for more than 30 years as a bilingual elementary teacher, principal, director, and assistant superintendent in both Human Resources and Business Services. He joined EUSD as superintendent in 2014, and since then, he has nurtured the district’s role as a leading pioneer in the use of educational technology, while cultivating a safe, productive, and innovative environment for learning and working.
Thomas Aurelio Davis is a former middle and high school bilingual science teacher, coach, administrator, grant writer, businessman and life-long learner. His passions center around mentoring and coaching, equal opportunity for all underrepresented communities, STEM, English Learners; technology for teaching and learning; students with special needs and students at-risk of not completing their education.
Gail Gousha is a consultant, and former Nutririon Services Director for the Escondido Unified School District (EUSD). Gail was instrumental in adopting the Good Food Purchasing Program at EUSD, the first institution in San Diego county to adopt the framework. In June 2020, Gail Gousha was part of the success.
